Monk Seals

Monk seals are amazing animals, there are more than 1,000 known species, or types, of endangered animals. In a few more years these animals will be extinct.

Not long ago, there were three monk seal species, but the Caribbean monk seal is now extinct. The monk seal became extinct because other people hunted it and for its meat, fur, and fat!

Hawaiian monk seals live in the waters by Hawaii that's how it got its name. There are  1,300 to 1,400 of these seals left.

The Mediterranean monk seal lives only in the Mediterranean Sea, around small islands and in underwater caves.

The moms will growl if anyone or anything gets close to the baby. While a mother is nursing, she does not eat. The fat stored in her body keeps her alive, but she loses a lot of weight. When her pup the baby seal stops nursing, the mother monk seal leaves it. The pup must then start hunting.

A monk seal is born with a black coat. After it finishes nursing it sheds its coat to a gray.

Many Hawaiian monk seals are killed by sharks each year. Young monk seals are especially easy targets for the sharks so they could get a easy meal, but leaving the mother devastated. Only great white sharks eat the Hawaiian monk seals.

The sharks have large mouths to grasp the seals in their clutches. Just to see that in live action and for one coming after you it would be terrifying. It scared me to just look for these pictures!

This amazing story about a little seal is when it was looking for its mom, but didn't find her.  Then it found a turtle, it flopped over to it and was trying to get milk from the turtle. The turtle swam down to the ocean and was trying to feed the seal seaweed. Soon people found the monk seal with no home so they adopted him.

Help me find my home in the world help us. Also I was wondering once you read this could you please post a comment?

endangered tigers

We are going to learn about the tiger a beautiful creature.

Now how exactly are the tigers dying, well the picture explains it all.

Now the tigers won't just give their selves up they won't go down without a fight. This is a Sumatran tiger, but we'll get to that later.

This is a Indian tiger. You can tell because the stripes on his head is more narrow.

Tiger habitats are all over the world, this one found a nice comfy grass spot to lay in.

Tigers can be great hunters, but they can also be a little lazy most of the time. This one has propped himself on a rock and is comfortably gazing at the sky.

This is a Sumatran tiger. There is only about 441 left in the wild. You can tell its a Sumatran tiger because it has circles below the eyes. The Sumatran tiger is the smallest of tiger subspecies. The white spots on the back of the ear are called "eyespots" or "predator spots". These spots fool predators.

Endangered snow leopards

I have been writing about endangered animals for a long time and these are my favorite I drew a picture of this very photograph!

These pour things are lonely and sad. Now you might ask how are the leopards dying? Well some people are killing them for skins and hanging them up or selling them.

Some of the cats have blue, green, or white eyes. This is a white eyed dshamilja.

This is my favorite picture out of all of them. The snow leopards can run really fast they are amazing jumpers and can blend into the snow perfectly.

PLEASE SAVE THESE ANIMALS HELP DO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO!

Endangered Zebras

                                              ZEBRA

There are many endangered animals in this world and there is one that lives in Africa. The zebra   some of you might say there is only one type of zebra well theres not there is three actually!

Zebras are beautiful animals but they are endangered Habitat loss is one of the main threats that zebras face in the wild. Habitat loss is the destruction of natural habitats by people. The number of people in Africa is growing quickly. The people need food and homes. Each year, they clear huge areas of zebra habitats. To clear is to remove all the plants from an area. People clear the land to create space to plant crops and to build new homes. Crops are plants that people grow for food. When their habitats are cleared, zebras have no where to live and no food to eat.

It is January in the African savanna, or grassland. under some acacia trees, a small group of zebras  grazes on the the yellow grass. A long-legged foal stands close to its mother. Only 2 days old, the little zebra looks fragile, or weak, but it will be able to run as fast as it's mother when she senses danger.

                                           FUN FACTS!

A little zebras strips are brown for
1 year then they are fully black.

                                        what do you think?

How does a baby zebra recognize its mother?

                                          A) by the color of her legs

                                          b) by the pattern of her stripes

                                          c) by the shape of her ears

ANSWER: its B the pattern of her stripes when a baby opens its eyes for the first time its sees its mothers strips and remembers the strips forever.

Every morning the zebras go to get a drink and lionesses know that so when they go they are alert. The stallion the oldest male zebra always goes first to see if its safe.

Sometimes the male does not see the lioness and she always attacks the baby. The mom will then leave the baby and go with the herd or will fight back to protect.

                                                                                        THANK YOU

This is a dugong. I will never let him down he is my friend and I will defend him. Most people call them sea cows. Since the dugong is not able to protect thereselfs they die a lot.
